* Cameroon *

8 days / 2015

Fly from Paris to Yaounde, capital of Cameroon. My friend of friend of friend came to the airport for picking me up. We went to a nice fish BBQ restaurant. Many middle class hotel have stairs, so I stayed at his house for 2 nights.

The next day, I visited Gabon south neighboring country of Cameroon to get the tourist VISA. Many stairs at the buildings. Some embassy are kind. Their staff come down and work for me. However Gabon embassy in Yaounde was not kind. The security guard did not help anything. The embassy staff was so cold. Above all they refused me to get Gabon VISA. My first plan was going to Gabon by land, but they say NO. They told me you could get VISA at airport. Therefore I bought a ticket to Libreville from Douala. It cost about 200 Euro...

Big lunch after VISA trouble. 3000 XAF buffet = 5 Euro. Taste yammy.

Professor of philosophy, university of Yaounde helped me all the day. Yes, he is the man, friend of friend of friend.

In his office. Many colleagues and students visited him. Very very good man.

Move to Buea, located 1 hour north of Douala. The professor took me the bus terminal. I could get on the direct bus to Buea. People were so kind.

Arrived Buea after 5 hours drive. People in Buea speak English. Almost all the land were French colony, but a part of land was Britich colony. Yaounde and Douoala people do not speak English. I saw many Nigerian tourists in Buea.

Lunch near the bus terminal. Taste bid salty and hot. Yellow is fu-fu. Eat with a hand.

Sunday church. I joined a small church mass. Noisy and funky. Sing and dance. This is Africa !

Many shops on the streets.

Fashionable cafe. Many young people enjoyed fruit juice smoothie.

She seemed the shop owner. So beautiful. My favorite woman. Thanks for a nice meals and taking a photo together.

Other local food. Green vegetable is " spinaches with dried fish ". It taste very good.

Buea bus terminal.

Douala downtown view from taxi side seat.

Economic capital Douala. French speaking people.

Mr. and Miss contest next to my hotel. So noisy, but I killed a time.

Mr. and Miss contest of local town in Douala, Cameroon. Nice dance.

Only banks have a ramp at entrance.  Any other building have no ramp.

The end of journey. Camair refused me to use the airplane from Douala- Paris first. They told me to change Air France, but who pays the money ?  They did not explain the reason why I cannot use Camair. That was the discrimination for disabled people. 20 minutes wait for the tough negotiation. Airport facility and airline service were good.

There were plenty of empty seats. 10 -20 % passengers only. The airline staff were quite kind. The book of airline was so interesting. It was like advertisement of president. Chad president also appeared on the book. I said to the next seat " First lady seemed so strong than her husband". He did not answer and laugh. Cameroon people never say president issue... Paul Biya was elected since 1984 as second president of Cameroon. In Africa, president keeps his power for decades.
