3 days alone / 2014 Georgia capital Tlibisi. Many hills and not good side walk. It was tough for walking on wheelchair. Good Metro network in Tbilisi, but it was not wheelchair accessibility only stairs. Many minibus in town. Taxi was only choice for me to go around the city with many hills. Old city road was so rough. Modern bridge between old city and ricer side park. It is wheelchair accessible, but some gap to normal street.
New cable car in the park. I was thinking it should be accessible. Yes, they have a wheelchair mark at the gate. However no ramp or lift to the gate... The staff carried me up and down. Cable car is really accessible non step. I do not know why they put a ramp in basic design.
Good view from cable car. Strange modern architectures in the park.
Georgian accessibility was bad. No ramp, no toilet, no disabled person in town. Typical ramp at the entrance were not good. Georgian food is nice. Khachapuri, Georgian bread (pizza) is outstanding delicious.. Khinkali is Georgian dumpling. The size is much bigger than Chinese dumping.
Beef tongue salad and pork BBQ.
Pelmeni, Russian cuisine dumpling and nice Georgian gas water.
Meat pizza and local Coca Cola.
Tbilisi central railway station. People use the underpass. Of course only stairs. I must go across the road many cars rushed. It was dangerous. Stairs to platform. I found a ramp at the end of platform.
Bumpy platform. The lady train crew refused to help me. I asked some passengers to help me. Big step on the door, narrow aisle, no wheelchair toilet. About 16 hours night train. Room mates were kind and enjoy dinner together in our cabin. 3 days business trip / 2015 Non Government Organization PARSA try to promote accessible tourism in Georgia. This is great challenge. They had an international conference. I support them. Tbilisi Holy Trinity Cathedral with conference speakers. It is possible to access the church from the gate by a long slope.
Ramp to the church, but there is a locked door. This ramp is not built on main route. Nice Orthodox church. Lift taxi. PARSA arranges this social adapted taxi for tourists. Old capital city " Mtskheta ". Stairs at the gate of main cathedral. PARSA and government plan to make a lift besides the stairs.
Also stairs at entrance of the cathedral. Taxi driver brings a ramp for me. May be they will make a ramp near future. There are many things to change accessible facility in Georgia. I visited here by a lift taxi. The guard opened the back door to enter by car because of wheelchair guest. Nice lunch in Mtskheta wine restaurants. Wine is one of main product in Georgia. Many say Georgia is the birthplace of wine. Georgia National Railway Company showed us a new train with less steps made in China. Please use made in Japan. Yes, Chinese product is always cheep. Their first ramp between train and platform. The accessibility just begun. I hope that it will be flat in the future. Platform levels are different each stations. The level of many local small stations are on ground. Inside the train. I advised that they should make a wheelchair space (take off 1-2 seats). Wheelchair accessible public toilet in Tbilisi central railway station. It was locked and smell tobacco. We must pay for using the toilet, so the lady has the key. There are no sign outside. I visited here last year but I did not know this toilet. I requested railway company to put the wheelchair mark outside. PARSA arranged a good wheelchair friendly hotel for me. 4 star Hotel Citrus located beside national parliament. Room 205 is wheelchair accessible. 160 US$ with nice breakfast. 42 square meter.
They have a wheelchair accessible large toilet near the reception on ground floor.
